Some Herbal Teas Are “Unsafe”

Peppermint and Other Herbal Teas are Safe

Many herbal teas are considered safe.  Where would we be without peppermint, chamomile and hibiscus in our herbal tea repertoire?  Gimmicky herbal blends that advertise weight loss may contain unsafe additives.

Diet Drug Sibutramine is Deemed Unsafe

BBC News Health reports that some herbal teas promoted as weight loss aids or anti-obesity drugs were recalled in Europe in January, 2010 and recalled in the USA in September, 2010.

The additive is sibutramine aka Payouji tea and Pai You Guo Slim.  Dieters should check the ingredients listing on any weight loss product to assure it is sibutramine-free. Comments contrary to Over the Teacups’ blog – please tell us.
